January 6 traditionally celebrates the arrival of the Three Kings from the West, who ride through the city of Brixen on horseback. But in the episcopal city of Brixen this holiday is celebrated in a very special way, because at the same time the Befana festival, a purely Italian tradition, takes place. The good-natured old witch brings sweets and gifts to children on the night of January 6. In Brixen, the Befana, similar to St. Nicholas, distributes sweets during a joint procession with Kings Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar.
