Biennale Gherdëina 9: Film Program

Screening Program
Curated by Lorenzo Giusti, Alice Labor, Marta Papini
Biennale Gherdëina and the MUSE – Museum of Sciences in Trento collaborate to create a series of screenings of artist films that expand the perspectives of the biennial by offering alternative narratives and interspecies alliances, moving beyond the categories of animate and inanimate, organic and inorganic, human and animal. Noor Abuarafeh (Palestine, 1986), Liv Bugge (Norway, 1974), Jumana Manna (USA/Palestine, 1987), Maeve Brennan (United Kingdom, 1990), Yalda Afsah (Germany/Iran, 1983), Caterina Erica Shanta (Germany/Italy, 1986) explore the wild, the complexities of the Anthropocene, and the ecological crises of our times through moving images, with critical and poetic gazes, showing other possible visions of a layered time that ranges from mountains to rivers, from villages to museums. Each film is introduced by a researcher from MUSE, showcasing the intersections of narratives and research between artistic and scientific language, between local and global.
