Looking for a jumpstart into the backcountry? Join the Backcountry Ski Days for guided tours, skiing technique skills and the sublime sense of solitude that you can only encounter when you’re deep in the woods.
Backcountry skiing differs from resort skiing in that it involves ascending, or “skinning up,” the slope first, then carving down the mountain on your skis. It’s a process aficionados like to call “earning your turns.” During the Lechtal Backcountry Ski Days, you can explore some of the most scenic routes in the Lechtal and Allgäu Alps with local and certified guides. The event offers backcountry ski courses for all levels, from beginner to expert, along with avalanche awareness camps, uphill and downhill skiing techniques and rescue skills. The equipment required can be rented on premises at the rental station in Elbigenalp. This is the perfect way to get out with other riders local to the area and explore some new terrain.
