Opera: "Liebesgesang"

Opera: "Liebesgesang"

Georg Friedrich Haas’ opera “Love Song” on a libretto by Händl Klaus will get its first staging in Austria at the Tirol Provincial Theater in Innsbruck from mid-September through late October.

A room, a couple, a long moment in which two people struggle for language, for their love - as it was, as it still is and as it no longer is. A concealed illness, happiness and injuries, memories, images, debris, syllables condense into an intoxicating encounter. Austrian composer Georg Friedrich Haas and librettist Händl Klaus explore the infinite nuances of a relationship in their opera “Liebesgesang” (Love Song). An almost everyday situation becomes audible here in its microscopic extremes. The performance situation is just as extreme: with nothing but their voices, without an orchestra or conductor, a female and male singer fan out the musical literary prism of the score into an intense emotional drama of the highest precision and equally great freedom. Argentinian director Marcos Darbyshire makes his house debut at the Kammerspiele and ventures with his team into the extremes of the human soul. The opera will get its first staging in Austria and will be running from September 13 through October 25, 2024.
