Iman Khelif and the others.
Wednesday at Transart 2024 the non-compliant bodies of Pride Südtirol
What do we mean by ‘non-conforming body’? What does it not conform to? And again, does it deviate from the norm or defy it? These questions will be the starting point for ‘Pride is (as) a body #2’, the encounter organised by Alto Adige Pride Südtirol on Wednesday 18 September as part of ‘Nobody's Village’, a format and space curated by Museion Art Club at Transart OASIE in via Dante 32.
The conversation will be led by Alessia Tuselli, research fellow at the University of Trento and author of the books ‘Fundamentals. Storie di atletee che hanno cambiato il gioco' and “Sportive: la partita della parità”. The discussion will start from current events, with the story of the Algerian boxer Iman Khelif at the Paris Olympic Games.
It will then discuss ‘mutant’ bodies, often considered dysphoric and ‘non-conforming’, and what alternative narratives can be created in a world full of highly regulated spaces.
The activists of Alto Adige Pride Südtirol and Centaurus will also talk about how these issues relate to school, which is often the first place where adolescents become aware of their identity and differences.
The discussion will be accompanied by a creative activity by art therapists Rita Mentzel and Ulrike Hoffman.
