The Royal National Ballet of Georgia is coming to the ‘Cristallo’ Theatre in Bolzano on 8 December 2024 at 4.30 p.m. as part of its European tour with the performance ‘Fire of Georgia’. Colchis, the land of the myth of Medea and Jason, now known as Georgia, comes to life through the extraordinary performance of the Ensemble directed by Gela Potskhishvili and Maia Kiknadze. The athletic talent, virtuoso technique and male prowess ‘on pointe’, in thin, unpadded boots, are intertwined with the light steps and ethereal beauty of the girls who, in refined silk dresses, seem to float lightly on the ice.
Some of the dances have their inspiration in the 8th century B.C. and, despite such a remote origin, retain such a dynamism and modernity that they inspire today's most famous pop stars. Particularly intense and dramatic is the dance where the protagonists of the choreography are the swords that cross each other in a whirlwind of sparks. This is how Georgians express their thirst for freedom today.
