In the past, smuggling took place over the Kalksteinjöchl (2349 m). Today, this crossing into the Villgraten Valley in East Tyrol is a popular destination for hikers in summer and ski tourers in winter. After 820 meters of elevation gain, the Kalksteinjöchl is reached. Those who want to climb higher can ascend from there to the Gail. The summit cross at 2494 meters is reached with an additional 120 meters of elevation. The rest of the group can use the 30 minutes to rest and catch their breath.

Time: 08:30 am.-04:00 pm. Altitude difference: Kalksteinjöchl 820 m, Gail 940m.
