"Psicopolizia" is a punk-rock-psychedelic band from Bolzano. Appearing on the Bolzano music scene in 2006, they disbanded in 2008. At the end of 2023, the group reformed and reworked their existing 13 songs, adding some new pieces. The lineup has changed with Davide Ferrazzi joining on guitar, replacing Alessandro Lo Vetro. "Psicopolizia" is: Pietro Frigato (vocals), Andrea Lo Vetro (bass), Emanuele Zottino (electric guitar, piano, synth), Paolo Seppi (drums), and Davide Ferrazzi (electric guitar). Since 2009, Zottino and Frigato have released two CDs with Controfase/RCCM, receiving excellent reviews in Buscadero (April 2013, review by Andrea Trevaini, p. 15) and Amadeus (January 2013, review by Riccardo Santangelo, p. 63) magazines, and winning the award for best album of the year at Rock Targato Italia in 2018.
"Psicopolizia" offers a sharply incisive punk-rock-psychedelic sound, characterized by modular and sparse sonic textures, bordering between minimalism and blues, crossed by the alternately distorted or warmly insinuating sounds of Ferrazzi's guitar. Frigato's vocals weave into these textures and sound waves, alternating between spoken word (evoking poetry readings with musical backing), sometimes nervous, sometimes heavy, and a simultaneously raucous and terrifying singing style. The lyrics are extremely varied, often containing intimate elements, but always characterized by great critical attention to the socio-economic context. The songs offered are extremely diverse, while maintaining a clear and distinctive character. Incredibly, the lyrics of some of the most emblematic songs like "Psicopolizia" and "Bi-pensiero" (both inspired by Orwell's 1984), written 17 years ago, have proven to be somewhat prophetic when considering current surveillance capitalism.
