Diatonic accordion, violin, guitar, and tuba – the four virtuoso musicians of MAXJOSEPH weave a dynamic and exquisitely chamber-like fabric with an elegance and lightness that one would not typically associate with folk music.
In their improvisations, hints of jazz shimmer through; in their flawless interplay, classical training becomes evident; and in their manifold influences, the broad horizons of four world citizens shine through, all while remaining deeply rooted in their homeland. The ensemble engages with folk music in a way that breaks clichés and gives rise to new, extraordinary ideas. Original music, light-footed and charming, that has been missing not only in Bavaria but far beyond its borders.
